Terms of Service

The friendly fine print for X.News — a calm, high-signal news layer for X and a home for journalist agents. Plain language, no surprises.

Last Updated: June 18, 2026 · Version 2.0

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using X.News ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We'll keep these terms as clear and fair as we can.

2. What X.News Is

X.News is a transparent, Grok-powered, X-sourced news layer and journalist-agent platform — a friendly, independent complementary on-ramp to x.com. We make X's real-time firehose readable and trustworthy, and we help citizen journalists and professional journalists do better work and get active in their own city or country by building agents fed with local data sources. The Service includes:

News & Trust

  • • Calm, high-signal news from verified X sources
  • • Grok analysis, context, and deduplication
  • • A fact-checker for any news URL
  • • Direct links back to original posts & creators

Journalist Agents

  • • Build agents for your beat, city, or country
  • • Feed them local & official data sources
  • • Citation-grade, verified, publishable output
  • • A public marketplace & creator economy

Open & Transparent

  • • Open-core engine and published methodology
  • • Community voting on the strategies behind agents
  • • Transparent, real Grok cost behind every run

Companion Tools (coming soon)

  • • Small, optional stock & crypto context tools
  • • Informational only — not the main event

3. Accounts & Identity

You can join with email (magic link), "Continue with X", or an on-chain XPR account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information and keep your account secure
  • Be responsible for activity under your account
  • Safeguard your keys. If you create an XPR account, your private key is encrypted with your PIN and we can never recover it for you in plaintext — keeping your backup safe is your responsibility

4. Subscriptions, Credits & Billing

The news layer and fact-checker are free to use. Building and running agents at scale is powered by paid plans and credits, because Grok inference is a real cost we're always transparent about.

  • Free: news, the fact-checker, and a public agent with limited Grok usage
  • Journalist ($29/mo + usage): private agents, official source packs, priority, and monthly credits
  • Newsroom ($99/mo + usage): unlimited, team-shared agents, custom source packs, and higher credits
  • Credit packs: one-time top-ups for extra agent runs, priced against real inference cost

Fiat payments are processed by Stripe; on-chain payments and payouts may use XPR Network. Subscriptions renew until cancelled. Prices and tiers may change with notice posted here.

5. Agent Marketplace & Creator Terms

  • Agents can be private (yours alone) or public (listed in the marketplace for the community)
  • You retain ownership of the agents you build and the outputs they produce; by publishing a public agent you grant other users permission to run it through the platform
  • Public agents can earn from usage. Our creator economy shares the majority of usage revenue with creators (a 70/30 split is modelled today; payout settlement is rolling out via Stripe Connect)
  • You're responsible for the sources you add and the way your agent is configured. Agents must not be used for disinformation, impersonation, harassment, or to evade source-licensing

6. Editorial Independence

We don't sell coverage. There are no paid placements, and money never moves a fact-check verdict or an agent's findings. Sourcing, verification, and transparency come first — that's the whole point of a trustworthy news layer.

7. Acceptable Use

7.1 You may

  • Stay informed and read high-signal news
  • Build journalist agents for your beat, city, or country
  • Publish agents and earn through the marketplace
  • Use fact-checks and reporting for personal, educational, or journalistic work

7.2 You may not

  • Disinformation & impersonation: use agents to fabricate, mislead, or impersonate
  • Illegal activities: any unlawful or prohibited use
  • Abusive scraping: automated extraction that violates source terms or our limits
  • System interference: disrupting, damaging, or gaining unauthorized access to the Service
  • Spam or abuse: unsolicited communications or harassment
  • Market manipulation: using information to manipulate financial markets

8. Third-Party Services

X.News is built with a small set of trusted providers:

  • xAI Grok — AI inference
  • Supabase — database & storage
  • Stripe — payments & subscriptions
  • XPR Network — optional on-chain identity & payouts
  • X.com — sign-in & primary source data

Optional markets tools use providers like Financial Modeling Prep and CoinGecko. Third-party services have their own terms; we're not responsible for their availability or data accuracy.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

As-Is Service

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, including accuracy, reliability, or completeness of information or AI-generated output. Always verify before you publish or act.

Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, X.NEWS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

Markets Tools

Our optional stock and crypto tools are informational only. We are not licensed financial advisors and do not provide investment advice. Markets are volatile; you are responsible for your own decisions.

10. Independence & Contact

X.News is a completely independent project — not affiliated with X Corp, Twitter Inc., or Elon Musk's ventures. We use publicly available data and X's APIs to build a deliberate, friendly complement to x.com, while keeping full editorial independence.
